Updated: Jul 1, 2022

A complex but necessary process to determine the cause of your unexplained symptoms

So you've been experiencing a whole lot of symptoms like fatigue, allergies, coughs, rashes, mood, sleep, memory, and cognitive problems that won't go away... and wondering why you're not getting well despite having treatment and following medical advice.

To add to this, with the recent flooding that caused water damage in a lot of houses and buildings... or even just the increased humidity caused mould to grow inside. You may have observed these symptoms getting any worse? When water damage occurs from floods, or even just humidity there is a very high chance of microbes growing . When floods and leaks occur in the house microbes also grow in the walls and release toxic chemicals into the air that you breath in, insidiously making you sick.

Truth is you don't necessarily need to see mould it can be hidden within the materials your house is made from. hence its often silent trigger to your sickness.

Mould illness, also known as CIRS (Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome) is a progressive, complex health problem that involves many of the body’s organ systems. It Therefore causes a mirid of symptoms that are brought about by exposure to biotoxins released from mould. These toxins significantly affect the nervous system and cause inflammation throughout the body. When left untreated, it can be an incredibly debilitating illness.

This commonly occurs when someone is exposed to water-damaged buildings as water encourages microbial growth commonly mould and bacteria. These release microbes release biotoxins and inflammagens that can trigger a multitude of symptoms in susceptible individuals such as chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, respiratory tract infections, allergies, brain fog, memory loss, mood disorders, etc. 90% of patients have a genetic component involved here. To be diagnosed with CIRS, one needs to meet these parameters which are:

  • Widespread body dysfunction with symptoms as mentioned above

  • Biotoxin exposure from most commonly a water-damaged building or either a tick bite (aka Lyme disease).

  • Evidence of genetic susceptibility

  • Plus other testing that measures such as ruling in or out a Lyme disease component and or inflammatory and hormonal changes.

Testing is required to finally get an answer to what’s causing your chronic illness! This means you will now be able to get the proper management for this.

Having a diagnosis can bring a certain amount of relief knowing exactly why you are unwell and what you need to do. All you have to do now is to tackle this head-on. Just remember that these conditions always need the guidance of a skilled practitioner as they are incredibly complex.
